Response to Hurricane Katrina International Rescue Committee (2005)
DevTech worked with the International Rescue Committee in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to address the needs of hurricane evacuees. DevTech provided technical assistance on education issues for children and youth, including: working with local organizations to design children and youth programs (both academic and social) for the FEMA trailer sites; advising the Baton Rouge Area Foundation on current needs in the community; providing input to the newly-formed Lousiana Family Recovery Corps on minimum standards for service delivery to children and youth; and working with a task force to initiate a network of autonomous (charter) schools in East Baton Rouge Parish.
