Global Technology Network
U.S. Agency for International Development (1996-2000)

The Global Technology Network contract expanded on DevTech's experience in developing and managing the environmental technology network for USAID/US-AEP. The primary objective of the GTN is to identify, disseminate information about, and match overseas business opportunities with U.S. businesses interested in emerging markets. The GTN assists lesser-developed countries (LDCs), countries graduating from USAID development assistance, and U.S. small and medium-size businesses to effectively respond to economic policy reforms and ensure sustainable economic growth through trade. DevTech's GTN staff provided assistance to companies operating in such industries as health, agri-business, financial services, telecommunications, and information technology. They worked with a variety of LDC trade and business organizations and U.S. firms to

  • Gather and synthesize specific trade and investment information about host country business activities, opportunities, and practices; Provide technology transfer counseling services to LDC business associations, trade organizations, and U.S. firms; and
  • Proactively provide notices, via fax and Internet, of technology transfer opportunities to firms registered in sector databases.

In addition, DevTech staff operated the Environmental Technology Network for the Americas, similar to the ETNA program, providing links between firms in the United States and Latin America.
