Development Information Services

AED/USAID (2001–2006)

The Development Information Services (DIS), operating under the Development Information and Outreach office of CDIE, provides USAID and USAID’s partners with online access to economic and social data.

A DevTech staff of 14 professionals manages the Agency’s Economic and Social Data Base (ESDB), an information system that provides macro-level, international economic and social statistical data. Their economic analysis is available to all Central and Regional Bureaus, and to USAID Missions. Additionally, DevTech staff members provide economic analysis of development issues, technical assistance, and special products.

Examples of specialized databases created by DevTech staff are on the USAID website:

DevTech has provided significant technical and/or statistical research input for the following special products:

  • General Budget Support in Nicaragua: A Case Study of an Alternative Assistance Approach, Oct 2005
  • The President's Report on Overseas Economic Assistance (PROEA), Apr 2005
  • Strengthening Education in the Muslim World: Country Profiles and Analysis, Apr 2004
