Consultant Registration FAQs

Our current and potential projects require personnel who are exceptionally qualified in their fields and who adhere to our rigid standards of professionalism and integrity. If you are a seasoned professional, have experience working in developing countries, and would like to be considered for short- or long-term work, either domestic or international, we encourage you to submit your resume, to be included in our database of consultants. Qualified, young professionals are also encouraged to register.

If you have already registered with DevTech, you may update your profile once it has been accepted at any time through the recruitment system. You may upload as many versions of your resume (see sample resume template) as you like to highlight different experience and strengths for different positions. Please save the resume/CV with an appropriate title so our recruitment staff can quickly and easily determine the best one to use for each project.

 2. How do I prepare my resume/CV?

To register with us, you are required to submit at least one comprehensive but succinct resume/CV to our database. You may submit many resumes/CVs that highlight your different areas of expertise. Please save your file in Microsoft Word format.

The most important factors you should consider when submitting your resume/CV to DevTech are:

  • International development experience (unless otherwise specified in the job posting)
  • Comprehensive, narrative resume/CV with specific positions (including dates), client/donor information, responsibilities and accomplishments.

If you have broad experience you may want to submit multiple versions of your resume/CV, customized by sector. This is particularly important if you are applying to a specific position. Please use descriptive file names when saving the different versions of your resume/CV.

 3. What if the registration Areas of Expertise (tick boxes) do not reflect my experience?

The recruitment system uses a keyword search index to identify suitable consultants for particular employment opportunities, and this is cross-referenced with your resume/CV. In addition to your resume/CV, we use your registration form to expand on and understand your skill level and experience. Fill in your experience details as close as possible, along the terms set out in the registration form.

 4. What happens to my details when I am registered?

You will receive an automated message confirming your login and password. Your details will remain confidential, and we will not share them or include your name in a proposal without your permission. You will receive a reminder to update your status in our database perodically, or until you request to be removed from the system.

 5. When will I hear from DevTech about a role overseas?

From the pool of consultants registered with us, we select the best-qualified persons to fill project roles. If your resume/CV appears as a potential match to a project role, we will contact you. Our needs will change over time as demand changes.

Based on the above factors, you may hear from us within months or sometimes several years. You should continue to refer to our website to keep abreast of current opportunities and company developments. Even after you have registered, if you find a project role that you believe suits your skills and experience, please select the position listing in the system and apply directly to that position. Again, your records are kept confidentially with us.

 6. How long will DevTech keep my registration details?

If we do not hear from you within two years of receiving your resume/CV, and we cannot contact you via your given contact details, your records will become inactive. You can re-activate your records by sending us an updated resume/CV with contact details. You can remain registered with us as long as you wish, or remove your name from our register at any time by contacting us at jobs@devtechsys.com.
