Manuel Figallo

Manuel Figallo is a Data Architect with DevTech Systems' Economic Analysis and Data Services project. Previously, he was a Software Architect with Hewlett-Packard's Business Intelligence Solutions Practice and has delivered high-value solutions to a variety of clients in the United States, Latin America, and Africa—particularly in finance, government, and health. Mr. Figallo specializes in integrating SAS with Internet technologies through industry best practices such as design patterns and has published and spoken widely on this topic. His current interests are in business intelligence (BI) requirements gathering, data modeling and integration, information delivery, data visualization, and on-line analytical processing especially for economic data. He holds two masters degrees and was awarded an IBM Ph.D. Fellowship ("to honor exceptional Ph.D. students") and KPMG Consulting Fellowship while in graduate school. He began his career working on computational linguistics projects at Carnegie Mellon University in 1993, where he applied his fluency in Spanish, French, and Portuguese to enable machine translation, information retrieval, and data mining. He also holds certificates in Latin American and West European Studies, is a recipient of the FLAS (Foreign Language and Areas Studies) Fellowship, has studied economics in Spain (in Spanish), worked on USAID projects in Rwanda, and has led several Habitat for Humanity teams to Portugal. Mr. Figallo is a SAS® 9 Certified Base Programmer.
